Who is Your Hero?

There are songs written about them, comic books sold by the millions about them, athlete’s who become them and celebrities who are this to some. What is it I am talking about? Heros! Have we all not had one at one time or another in our lives? There is nothing wrong with having heroes, I know to a lot of us women out there if you ask who is your hero, the answer would be automatic, MY DADDY. I know that would be my answer. This made me wonder, how many people out there is asked who is your hero, the answer would be an automatic, Jesus. The world is constantly looking for a hero, why don’t we look to Jesus to be our hero? If there was anybody ever to look up to, to just sit and be in awe of, somebody who paid it all for me, that would be Jesus. We cannot even imagine what Jesus went through for us. First of all he went through six trials, 3 before jewish officials, Annas, Caiaphas and the Sanhedrin. Then 3 before the Roman officials, Pilate, Herod then back to Pilate. Then came the scourging, which was done with a flagrum,  a short whip with several leather strips which were either embedded with pieces of metal and glass or small metal balls which were tied to the ends of the leather strips. They would either tie the person to a post or they would bend them over an object in order to expose the back as much as possible, to inflict the most pain and suffering as they could. The person who would be using the flagrum would be trained, so as they struck each lash they would hit then drag it so it would make the back rip open. Most of the time the beating would be so severe the skeleton would be exposed. People often died from just the beating. Jesus took 39 of these lashes. His back had to be ripped open and bleeding. Then come the crown of thorns, which was pushed on his head, ripping his skin and scalp and leaving him bleeding on his head also. Then they placed a purple robe on him, which may not seem that bad, after the beating Jesus just took leaving his back bloody and raw, this robe would rub against it and cause more pain to him. If you then think of how the blood would start to clot the robe would stick to this open wounds and when they ripped this robe off of him it would be excruciating pain all over again. Then Jesus is given his “cross” to carry to the place where they would lay him upon it and take nails and drive them through his arms and legs and crucify him. If you have seen the movie “The Passion”, it portrays graphically what Jesus had to go through. I am truly humbled to know the price that Christ paid for me. Jesus might have left this world beaten and bloody, he will however return a hero! He has NEVER been defeated. Jesus will return as the Lord of Lords and King of Kings. He will be riding a white horse. He will speak and it will be done. He will not be mistaken everybody will know him. It is amazing to me as God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit stood as the earth was created they already knew my name. Jesus knew as he took that beating, went and died on that cross each and every person he was going for. How humbling is that. As I think of a hero, and I tell my kids and grandkids who to look to, I will tell them look to the one who is truly a hero JESUS CHRIST our LORD! I praise you Father and thank you for loving us so much to send your son to be our hero our Savior.
